Senator Loren Legarda introduces Anti-Pink Tax bill to ban gender-based pricing

Senator Loren Legarda has filed SBN 2483, the Anti-Pink Tax Act, aiming to outlaw price discrimination based on gender in consumer goods and services.

The proposed legislation, known as the Anti-Pink Tax Act, seeks to prohibit sellers from charging different prices for identical products marketed to men or women. Legarda argues the practice creates systemic economic inequality. The bill, designated SBN 2483, will now be referred to the Senate’s appropriate committee for review. If passed, it would become a landmark consumer-protection measure in the Philippines.

Why it matters

It could eliminate unfair price differences that burden consumers based solely on gender.
