Senator Ron Johnson urges DOJ and FBI to probe alleged ballot fraud in LA's Skid Row

Senate investigations chair Ron Johnson has asked the Justice Department and FBI to examine claims that homeless individuals in Los Angeles were paid to sign ballot petitions.

Ron Johnson, chair of the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, sent a letter to Attorney General Todd Blanche urging the Justice Department and FBI to launch a probe into alleged ballot-signature fraud targeting the homeless population in Los Angeles. The request follows testimony from investigative journalist James O’Keefe, who presented undercover footage showing Urban Signers leader Franck Tessemo admitting his firm used cash and cigarettes as incentives for petition signatures.

O’Keefe also named 1 Moore Petition, LLC as another suspect entity. Johnson noted that O’Keefe is already cooperating with a United States attorney, but called for broader federal involvement. The push comes after a Marina Del Ray woman pleaded guilty to paying Skid Row residents to register to vote and sign petitions, raising concerns about mail-in ballots being sent to incorrect addresses.

Johnson asked for a briefing on any federal investigations or prosecutions related to the scheme and the two companies. The move highlights ongoing worries about election integrity in California.
