Senco Gold to buy 68% of August Jewellery for Rs 68 crore

Senco Gold plans to acquire a 68% stake in August Jewellery for Rs 68 crore, with the deal expected to close by February 2027.

In a regulatory filing, Senco Gold disclosed its intention to buy a 68% share of August Jewellery for Rs 68 crore, with completion targeted for February 2027 pending certain conditions. The acquisition, structured in multiple tranches, will bring the company's overall stake, including a promoter group’s contribution, to 79%, effectively making August Jewellery a subsidiary. Funding will come from a new equity issuance, intended to fuel the jewellery maker’s expansion, support growth initiatives, and repay existing liabilities.

The deal aligns with Senco Gold’s digital and omnichannel ambitions, especially to attract the fast-growing young consumer segment, and will benefit from Melorra’s design and online retail capabilities. The filing notes that the transaction does not require any governmental or regulatory approvals.

Why it matters

The deal expands Senco Gold’s market reach and digital footprint in India's fast-growing jewellery sector.
