Senior police trainer accused of sexual misconduct with multiple female recruits
A Northumbria Police trainer who allegedly pursued sexual relationships with nine female probationers has been barred from policing after a misconduct hearing.
During a misconduct hearing in Houghton le Spring, investigators detailed how PC Peter Miller, a senior trainer with over two decades of experience, targeted nine female probationers with persistent unwanted communication and invitations to his house. He allegedly had consensual sex with one recruit and made suggestive comments to others, including calling a trainee a “special girl” and noting her “nice leggings.” The panel concluded his behavior was motivated by sexual gratification and constituted predatory conduct.
Miller denied wrongdoing, claiming the messages were friendly, but the hearing found he breached professional standards between September 2020 and January 2021. He resigned from Northumbria Police shortly before the panel could dismiss him, and officials ordered his name added to the police barred list.
