Sennheiser unveils Momentum True Wireless 5 earbuds with replaceable batteries

Sennheiser announced a refresh of its Momentum True Wireless earbuds, now called the True Wireless 5, which allow owners to swap out batteries in both the earbuds and the charging case using a small screwdriver. The redesign makes the earbuds slimmer and the case narrower, promoting a "barely there" feel that 73 % of testers preferred over the previous version. Playback time rises to 12 hours per charge and up to 40 hours with the case, while an eight-minute charge adds an extra hour of listening.

Sound performance benefits from a 7 mm TrueResponse transducer, Bluetooth 6.0 compatibility for 24-bit/96 kHz streams, and a free app with an eight-band EQ and head-tracking spatial audio. Voice calls are enhanced by an AI speech algorithm, and the ANC system now uses a four-microphone array and new ear tips for better noise cancellation and transparency mode. The earbuds will launch on September 3 in five colors, priced at $300.
