Seo Chae-hyun Secures Back-to-Back Asian Games Bronze in Women's Boulder

South Korean climber Seo Chae-hyun earned a bronze medal in the women's boulder competition at the Asian Games, marking her second consecutive podium finish.

At the Asian Games in Nagoya, South Korea's Seo Chae-hyun captured bronze in the women's boulder event, finishing with 70 points. China's Zhang Yuetong took gold with 85 points, while Japan's Ai Mori earned silver at 84.8 points. Seo and China's Luo Zhilu posted identical final scores, but Seo advanced due to a flawless 100-point semifinal performance.

The boulder competition challenges athletes to finish as many 4-meter routes as possible, granting 25 points for a top and 10 for a zone, with a 0.1-point deduction per failed attempt. Seo secured full points on her first two problems and 10 points on each of the remaining two. She is also a strong lead climber, ranked second worldwide in that discipline, and will compete in the upcoming lead events.

Why it matters

The result highlights Seo's consistency and South Korea's strength in competitive climbing at a major regional multi-sport event.
