Seongnam civil servant indicted for stabbing estranged wife in front of daughter

South Korean prosecutors have indicted a Seongnam public servant for the fatal stabbing of his estranged wife in front of their daughter. The attack occurred on Sept. 1 outside the woman's residence in Gwangju, Gyeonggi Province, and was motivated by the man's concern over potential adverse results in their ongoing divorce. The wife, who had been residing separately under a protection order after earlier domestic-violence incidents, was tracked by the suspect using the address noted in the divorce filings.

In addition to murder charges, the suspect faces child-abuse accusations for committing the crime before his child. Prosecutors have requested that a court impose an electronic ankle monitor, place him on probation, terminate his parental rights and appoint a guardian for the child. He is currently detained pending trial.
