September brings sharp temperature swings and scattered showers across Malaga province

The transition from summer to autumn in Malaga province will be marked by pronounced weather changes over the coming days. Monday and Tuesday will retain late-summer conditions, with humidity high and temperatures soaring to 32 °C in Malaga city and up to 38 °C around Antequera, described by the director of the Malaga meteorological centre as well above normal. On Wednesday, a westerly wind is forecast to lower interior temperatures by up to 10 °C, bringing them down to around 30 °C, while Malaga city will briefly climb to 35 °C. Thursday will see further cooling, with interior highs near 27 °C and city temperatures dropping to 28 °C. The main concern is a heightened risk of scattered, light showers across the province as a trough passes and easterly winds set in. August was among the warmest on record, with Aemet data showing it as the seventh hottest month historically for the province and the fourth hottest summer for Malaga city, though officials note no unusual factor beyond a general warming trend.
