The Social Security Administration announced that the September 2026 Supplemental Security Income disbursements will be sent out in 17 days, adhering to the program’s typical first-day-of-the-month timing. Eligible individuals can receive up to $994, while joint filers may qualify for $1,491 and caregivers for as much as $498. To qualify, recipients must be U.S. citizens or non-citizens in DHS-approved categories, live in one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, or the Northern Mariana Islands, and not be absent from the United States for a full calendar month or 30 consecutive days.
