September ushers in a flood of flagship smartphone unveilings worldwide
The month kicks off with the Poco F9 Pro and Ultra releases, followed by a packed IFA show in Berlin and an Apple event, heralding a wave of new flagship phones.
Early September saw the launch of the Poco F9 Pro and F9 Ultra, signaling the start of an unusually busy smartphone calendar. The IFA exhibition in Berlin, drawing over 200,000 attendees, will host a range of announcements, from Tecno's bezel-less concept to Xiaomi's first appearance at the show and a potential new foldable device. Apple, absent from IFA, plans a September 9 event that may delay the standard iPhone 18 to spring while spotlighting its Pro models and a possible foldable iPhone.
Huawei is expected to debut the Mate XT 2 in China on September 7, with additional Mate 90 models likely to follow. Xiaomi will roll out the 18 Pro series later in the month, and Vivo, Honor, Oppo and OnePlus have all confirmed flagship releases such as the X500, Magic 9, Find X10 and the OnePlus 16. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Summit from September 22 to 24 will introduce the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, prompting a cascade of Android phones powered by the new chip. Analysts note that many of these launches may be incremental upgrades rather than groundbreaking innovations.
