Serco employee charged after asylum seeker addresses were publicised in Thetford
A 62-year-old Serco worker has been accused of misconduct for releasing the locations of asylum-seeker housing that were later attacked in Thetford, Norfolk.
James Jobson, a 62-year-old employee of the accommodation provider Serco, has been charged with misconduct in public office after reportedly sharing the locations of asylum-seeker homes in Thetford, Norfolk. The addresses on St John's Way, Bracken Road, Clover Way, Elm Road and Chester Way became the target of crowds during three nights of violent disorder earlier this month. Norfolk Police said the release of that information preceded the attacks.
Jobson, a resident of Highlow Road in Costessey, appeared before Ipswich Magistrates' Court on Monday and was remanded in custody. He is due to face further proceedings at Norwich Crown Court on 14 September. The case highlights concerns over the security of vulnerable housing and the handling of sensitive data by contractors.
