Serian registers Malaysia's highest hazardous air-pollution index at 400

Serian in Sarawak posted an API of 400, the most hazardous level recorded in the country as of 6 p.m. today.

According to the Air Pollutant Index Management System, Serian in Sarawak recorded an API of 400 at 6 p.m., marking the country's most hazardous level. Sri Aman (273), Samarahan (272) and Sarikei (202) posted very unhealthy readings, and six Sarawak towns - Mukah (172), Bintulu (165), Kapit (155), ILP Miri (153), Limbang (151) and Miri (102) - fell into the unhealthy range. In Sabah, Kota Kinabalu (156), Kimanis (154) and Keningau (153) also registered unhealthy scores, while Labuan logged 156.

Across Malaysia, 37 locations showed moderate air quality and four areas were rated good. An API above 300 is deemed hazardous, 201-300 very unhealthy, 101-200 unhealthy, 51-100 moderate, and 0-50 good.
