Settlement group claims overnight establishment of new community opposite Gaza City
The Nachala settlement movement announced it set up a new outpost facing Gaza City and called on the Israeli government to approve its relocation to the northern Gaza Strip.
The Israeli settlement organization Nachala posted on X that it had carried out an unprecedented overnight operation to establish a new community called "Pioneers of Gaza" adjacent to the border fence opposite Gaza City. The group released footage showing over 700 participants, among them families of the dead, wounded from the recent war, rabbis and other public personalities, constructing infrastructure and buildings on the site.
Nachala demanded that the Israeli government promptly approve the relocation of this settlement to the northern Gaza Strip, a region from which Israeli settlements were evacuated in 2005. The statement emphasized that Gaza is an integral part of the Land of Israel and that expanding settlement presence would convey a clear sense of defeat to the enemy. No official response from Israeli authorities was included in the report. The claim highlights ongoing settlement activity despite previous evacuations.
Why it matters
It signals a renewed push to expand Israeli settlements near Gaza, potentially heightening regional tensions.
