Seven Greek initiatives join EU LIFE programme to boost climate and environmental resilience
Greece has secured inclusion of seven projects in the EU LIFE programme, contributing to the European Union’s climate and environmental objectives.
Seven projects from Greece have been selected for participation in the EU LIFE programme, which aims to advance environmental protection and climate action across the Union. The programme’s total budget will be shared with contributions from Greek, regional and local governments, private sector partners and civil-society organisations. The Greek projects cover a range of topics, including safeguarding plane tree ecosystems from disease, expanding an IT platform for environmental liability assessments, creating community climate shelters, drafting guidelines for greener post-disaster reconstruction, supporting sustainable heating and cooling plans in cities, establishing one-stop renovation hubs in three Greek towns, and developing portable certification tools for renewable-energy installers. International cooperation is built into several projects, linking Greek institutions with counterparts in Italy, Portugal, Cyprus, Spain, Austria, Latvia, Romania, Belgium, Ukraine and other countries.
Why it matters
The projects will help Greece and the EU meet climate-neutral goals and improve resilience to environmental challenges.
