Seven lifestyle tweaks that could improve your chances of conceiving

A health comic outlines seven evidence-based habits, such as regular exercise and avoiding cannabis, nicotine, and alcohol, that may raise fertility for couples trying to conceive.

Couples aiming for pregnancy face a roughly one-in-four chance each month, according to the American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists, but success depends on a mix of medical history, genetics, hormone levels, timing and chance. Reproductive endocrinologist Lucky Sekhon describes the process as similar to a slot machine, where precise timing around ovulation can improve odds but cannot guarantee a result. The comic presents seven lifestyle adjustments—ranging from consistent physical activity to eliminating cannabis, nicotine and alcohol—that research suggests may enhance fertility for both men and women.

Additional context is offered in a 26-minute Life Kit audio segment hosted by reporter Andee Tagle. The visual story was created by Tagle and illustrator LA Johnson, with editorial input from Malaka Gharib and CJ Riculan, and produced by Sylvie Douglis.
