Seventh suspect charged with attempting to obstruct homicide probe
A 32-year-old man has been charged with three counts of attempting to pervert the course of justice in the Operation Hawkin homicide investigation.
Legal documents reveal that a 32-year-old individual has been formally accused of three separate attempts to pervert the course of justice between December 2025 and January 2026. Prosecutors allege he counseled a person to avoid arrest by leaving the country, sent a warning to another involved in related proceedings about imminent police enforcement, and instructed a third party to alter their encrypted-messaging username to conceal evidence.
Each count carries a maximum penalty of seven years’ imprisonment. This latest charge raises the tally of suspects in the Operation Hawkin homicide probe to seven. Detective Inspector Scott Beard confirmed the new charge is linked to the December homicide in Mt Wellington.
