Several copies of Charles Spencer's Diana memoir stolen from Dutch truck
A truck transporting thousands of copies of Charles Spencer's upcoming Diana memoir was broken into in the Netherlands, with four wrapped copies taken.
Copies of Charles Spencer's forthcoming memoir about his sister Princess Diana were stolen from a lorry en route to a Dutch warehouse. The vehicle, loaded with thousands of books printed in central Europe, was broken into while the driver rested at a lay-by, and four copies wrapped in black plastic were removed. The book, titled "Swan Song: Diana, My Sister" and set for publication on September 22 by Michael Joseph, a division of Penguin Random House, is expected to reveal new details about Diana's marriage to King Charles.
Publishing sources called the theft "extremely suspicious" and noted that security measures had been unusually stringent. Dutch police have opened a probe, treating the incident as a serious breach that could jeopardise the book's launch.
