Several European airports expand liquid allowances, Prague terminal adopts new rules

The introduction of CT-based security scanners is allowing larger liquid containers—up to two litres—to be carried through selected airport checkpoints, beginning with Munich and Prague’s Terminal 2. In Germany, Cologne/Bonn and Nuremberg have fully dropped the 100-ml cap, while Frankfurt and Berlin’s BER airport apply the relaxed limits only at stations equipped with the new scanners. Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Stuttgart and Hannover retain the original restriction.

At Prague’s Letiště Václava Havla, the relaxed rule applies solely in Terminal 2, where passengers may also keep electronics in their bags, whereas Terminal 1 still requires liquids to be in 100-ml bottles inside a one-litre transparent bag and electronics to be removed for screening. Travelers must be aware that the higher limits are limited to checkpoints with the appropriate CT technology, and they may encounter the old rules when transferring through airports that have not upgraded.
