Severe Bangkok floods force Thai Airways to cancel dozens of flights, stranding Norwegian travelers

Bangkok is experiencing severe flooding after days of heavy rain, which has shut down many streets and kept airline employees from reaching Suvarnabhumi Airport. While the airport itself stays operational, Thai Airways is struggling with staffing gaps in check-in, baggage, cabin and cockpit areas, forcing it to cancel 21 scheduled flights on Wednesday, including the Bangkok-Copenhagen route that many Norwegians rely on.

In addition to the European cancellations, several domestic services to Phuket, Chiang Mai and Udon Thani have been affected. Norwegian travelers are urged not to go to the airport until they receive a confirmed new itinerary, as the airline works to re-book passengers. Thai Airways' chief Chai Eamsiri warned that reduced capacity could last at least three days, and baggage handling chaos has been reported on the ground. Norwegian authorities have not issued a travel warning but encourage citizens to register in the Reiseklar app for updates.
