Severe rain and thunderstorms expected across Greece from Monday, with strong north winds on Wednesday

Greece will face unsettled weather on Monday, including rain and thunderstorms, followed by intense north winds reaching up to 9 bft on Wednesday.

Meteorological services warn that Monday will be marked by persistent rain and occasional thunderstorms across large areas of Greece, while temperatures fall to between 12 and 26 °C depending on the region. Eastern Macedonia, Thrace and the northeastern Aegean are projected to experience the strongest convective activity, with limited showers also possible in western Greece and the Peloponnese. Visibility may be reduced in the morning, and sea breezes will reach 5 bft.

On Wednesday, the storm system will intensify, bringing north-easterly winds of up to 9 bft over the Aegean, which could lead to temporary sailing restrictions. The weather will gradually improve on Thursday, confining rainfall mainly to Crete. Γιώργος Εμμανουήλ of ΕΡΤ noted that the disturbances will move from west to east, with the most severe impacts expected in the eastern and southern parts of the country.
