Severe weather alert updated: heavy rain, hail and strong northeast winds hit parts of Greece
The Hellenic National Meteorological Service refreshed its emergency weather bulletin, keeping an orange warning for heavy rain, thunderstorms and possible hail in parts of the Peloponnese, Thessaly, the Sporades and Evia, while northeast winds up to 8 bft will affect the central and northern Aegean.
The Hellenic National Meteorological Service (EMY) issued an updated severe-weather bulletin based on the latest forecasts. An orange alert remains in force for heavy rain, thunderstorms and possible hail in several regions: the Peloponnese (mainly northern Lakonia, eastern Arcadia and southern Argolis) and the islands of Kythira, as well as eastern Thessaly (especially Magnesia), the Sporades and Evia, with impacts expected through Saturday night and into Sunday.
The service also warned that strong northeast winds of Beaufort force 7 to 8 will sweep the central and northern Aegean beginning Saturday evening (26-09-2026) and continue on Sunday (27-09-2026). Residents in the warned zones are advised to take precautions against flooding and wind damage. No further details were provided.
