Sharad Pawar calls on Maharashtra government to negotiate with protesting MPSC candidates

NCP leader Sharad Pawar urged the Maharashtra government to open talks with MPSC aspirants protesting exam transparency and administrative changes.

Sharad Pawar, head of the Nationalist Congress Party, appealed to Maharashtra authorities to engage immediately with candidates of the Maharashtra Public Service Commission who have been demonstrating over exam procedures. He noted a palpable sense of unease among students in Pune, Mumbai and other parts of the state after the State Services Main Examination 2026 was postponed. Protesters are demanding the removal of the MPSC chairman and clearer examination processes.

Pawar said he has discussed the issue with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and urged the chief minister to meet the students upon his return from Nagpur. He also offered to take part in any talks, emphasizing that meaningful communication is needed to break the deadlock.

Why it matters

The dispute could delay a major state recruitment exam and affect thousands of job seekers.
