Sharp begins domestic sales of Foxconn-built AI servers powered by Nvidia platform

Sharp Corp. confirmed that it is taking its first Japanese orders for artificial-intelligence servers built by its parent company Foxconn, formally Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. The servers, which embed Nvidia Corp.’s latest AI platform, are intended for use by municipal authorities, research institutions and data-center operators. Sharp plans to begin selling the units in fiscal 2027, starting next April, and projects sales of roughly 250 billion yen by fiscal 2030.

The firm sees the move as a growth opportunity as AI becomes embedded in social infrastructure. It also mentioned the possibility of co-producing the servers with Foxconn at its Kameyama facility in Mie Prefecture. The domestic AI server market is expected to expand from about 900 billion yen in fiscal 2025 to around 4 trillion yen in fiscal 2030.
