Sheep farmers' protest in Bucharest overtaken by unrelated agitators

Sheep breeders had announced a protest to voice grievances over export bans and animal culling, but the event in Bucharest attracted a broader crowd, including vegetable growers and nationalist activists. Leaders such as Constanța Ștefan of the Țara Loviștei Association reported that only a fraction of the demonstrators were actual shepherds. At approximately 10:30, some protesters tried to break through the police line, hurling items at officers and obstructing traffic.

Authorities reiterated that no representative shepherd organization had sanctioned the march and appealed for an end to the disorder. The demonstrators also demanded the lifting of export restrictions and compensation for losses caused by disease outbreaks.
