Sheffield trainer Glyn Rhodes to join British Boxing Hall of Fame

Glyn Rhodes, a 66-year-old trainer from Sheffield, is set to be inducted into the British Boxing Hall of Fame during a ceremony in Leeds next year. Starting his boxing journey at 19 under the guidance of Brendan Ingle, Rhodes later established the Sheffield Boxing Centre, a hub that has nurtured numerous champions. He recalled training alongside Herol "Bomber" Graham and "Prince" Naseem Hamed during the Ingle Gym’s celebrated era.

Despite personal challenges, including the 2018 death of his fighter Scott Westgarth, Rhodes remained committed to the sport, earning an MBE in 2013 for his contributions to boxing and youth. The Hall of Fame, created by former boxer Dave Harris, selects inductees through votes from 18 ex-boxers’ associations, and Rhodes will join a roster that includes Barry McGuigan, Frank Bruno, Joe Calzaghe and Lennox Lewis.
