Sheikh Tahnoon invests in US dollar-stablecoin bank and UAE dirham-stablecoin project
Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed holds a large share in a U.S. bank linked to a dollar-backed stablecoin and has backed a major dirham-stablecoin transaction in the UAE.
Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed, deputy ruler of Abu Dhabi and UAE national security adviser, has taken significant stakes in two stablecoin ventures. He is a major investor in the holding company of a U.S. bank that recently secured preliminary approval to issue a dollar-backed stablecoin launched by World Liberty Financial, a digital-assets platform co-founded by members of the Trump family. Together with other investors, he controls a 49% interest in that holding company.
Domestically, International Holding Co., which he chairs, completed a $30 million transaction in DDSC, a dirham-backed stablecoin developed with First Abu Dhabi Bank, the UAE’s largest lender, which he also chairs. This transfer is reported as one of the largest single stablecoin deals in the Middle East. The dual involvement underscores his strategic push into both U.S. and regional digital-currency ecosystems.
