Sheila Nevins thanks Dr. Fauci from home as TV Hall of Fame honors six legends

Sheila Nevins, the record-holding Emmy winner and former president of HBO Documentary Films, was forced to skip the Television Academy Hall of Fame ceremony after testing positive for COVID and developing pneumonia. She submitted a pre-recorded speech in which she thanked Dr. Anthony Fauci for the vaccine that helped her recover within a week. Nevins also honored the five other inductees—late "60 Minutes" correspondent Ed Bradley, actor Ted Danson, "South Park" creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos, and actress Jean Smart—offering specific commendations for each.

The event was held at the JW Marriott L.A. Live in downtown Los Angeles, ahead of the Academy’s Televerse conference. Bill Hader presented the award to Parker and Stone, recounting a "fish dick" story from the show, while Jean Smart reflected on the shift from scheduled TV events to on-demand viewing. Additional remarks came from Ted Danson’s wife Mary Steenburgen, one outlet’ Leslie Stahl, and Netflix’s Jerry Seinfeld, among others.
