She emphasized that Mexico is pursuing tariff relief for key sectors, including steel, aluminium and cars, while insisting the process respects Mexican sovereignty. Sheinbaum also noted that Mexico remains part of the USMCA framework with the United States and Canada, but seeks additional concessions beyond the existing agreement. Meanwhile, Trump has warned he could alter trade relations in response to U.S. monetary policy moves, adding pressure to the negotiations. Regional leaders, including Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, have expressed concern over Trump's aggressive trade posture.
