Shiv Sena leader and others charged after hospital clash over CT scan

Five members of a Govinda troupe were treated at Relief Hospital in Palghar after sustaining injuries while forming a human pyramid for a Dahi Handi event. Doctors advised a CT scan, estimating the cost at roughly Rs 20,000, but the troupe challenged the necessity and asked to be discharged, prompting a confrontation. Hospital officials reported that staff were verbally abused, a staff member was slapped, and threats were made to damage the facility, with some members even entering the ICU.

Police registered a case against 17 individuals, including Shiv Sena district chief Kundan Sankhe, Rohit Gavit and Rahul Gharat, under various provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Maharashtra Medicare Service-Persons and Institutions Act. CCTV footage of the episode has been submitted to investigators. Sankhe contested the allegations, claiming the dispute arose because the injured troupe members were not being released promptly.
