Shokz unveils lighter OpenFit Air 2 earbuds with extended battery life

Shokz introduced the OpenFit Air 2 earbuds, weighing about 7.2 g each—roughly 17 % lighter than the prior model—and priced at $130.

Shokz launched the OpenFit Air 2 earbuds, a refreshed version that is about 7.2 g per earbud—approximately 17 % lighter than the earlier generation. The open-ear architecture eliminates canal pressure and lets users stay aware of their surroundings, a benefit for city runners and other outdoor activities. Audio performance relies on the company's proprietary Bassphere driver and OpenBass 2.0 algorithm, promising deeper bass and a more natural soundstage, with four preset equalizer settings and two user-defined profiles accessible through a companion app.

The earbuds deliver eight hours of playback on a single charge, extendable to 36 hours when paired with the included case, and a rapid-charge feature adds three hours after ten minutes. They operate on Bluetooth 6.1, support multipoint connections, and will be available for $130 beginning August 27. Shokz also announced the OpenRun Air 2 earbuds, which share the lighter weight and are designed for runners with a behind-the-head hook, offering ten hours of battery life and a five-minute quick charge.

Why it matters

Consumers get a lighter, open-ear audio option with longer battery life and improved sound for outdoor use.
