Significant share of Republican voters now favor impeaching Trump, poll shows

A recent poll indicates that a majority of Americans support impeaching Donald Trump, with about one-quarter of Republican midterm voters also in favor.

A new poll reveals that more than half of Americans think Donald Trump has engaged in impeachable conduct, with 81 % of likely Democratic voters and a quarter of Republican midterm voters sharing that view. Although respondents doubt a House impeachment would significantly limit Trump, the findings highlight a notable shift among GOP voters. The poll also shows that over 41 % believe Trump used the presidency for personal or family financial gain, and a third want Democrats to focus on probing those claims.

Additionally, a third of respondents prioritize investigations into his immigration crackdown. Democratic voters favor impeaching several cabinet officials, naming Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Pete Hegseth, JD Vance and Marco Rubio as targets. The poll was conducted mid-October, just before heightened bipartisan criticism over recent Russia-related controversies and alleged hindrances to Ukraine aid.

Why it matters

The poll signals rising bipartisan support for impeachment, which could shape campaign strategies ahead of the midterm elections.
