Singapore Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong visits Malaysia to boost supply chain resilience

Singapore Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong arrived in Malaysia for a one-day visit focused on strengthening economic ties and supply-chain resilience.

On a Monday, Singapore Deputy Prime Minister and Trade Minister Gan Kim Yong touched down at KLIA for a single-day working trip to Malaysia. Welcomed by MITI Deputy Secretary-General R. Jaya Singam, Gan is set to meet Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani and join a business luncheon hosted by the Malaysia-Singapore Business Council in Kuala Lumpur. He will also co-chair the third Ministerial Dialogue between MITI and Singapore's Ministry of Trade and Industry, focusing on investment, trade, the halal industry and supply-chain resilience.

A key agenda item is the adoption of terms of reference for a Malaysia-Singapore Supply Chain Working Group to enhance crisis response and goods movement. The visit aims to explore further cooperation in investment, trade and halal sectors, building on 2025 figures that show Singapore as Malaysia's second-largest trading partner with RM402.8 billion in trade and its top source of ASEAN FDI at RM53.4 billion.
