Singapore rolls out AI-driven dating platform for civil servants to boost marriages
Singapore has introduced a pilot dating service called FirstDate for public-sector employees aged 21-35, aiming to ease marriage declines.
Singapore unveiled FirstDate, an algorithm-powered dating pilot for public officials aged 21 to 35, designed to counter falling marriage rates and low fertility. Users input details such as hobbies, habits, faith and deal-breakers, and only matched partners can view profiles unless contact information is shared voluntarily. The service guarantees strict privacy and asks participants to rate their dates afterward.
The initiative comes as marriage registrations fell for a third straight year in 2025 and the nation was classified as a super-aged society. Prime Minister Lawrence Wong recently announced a generous family-support package to encourage larger families. The pilot accepts applications until the coming Monday, echoing a similar Japanese government app that reportedly led to 265 marriages.
