Singapore's central district sees air quality slip back into unhealthy range
On Saturday, the central part of Singapore recorded a 24-hour PSI of 104, pushing it into the unhealthy bracket while other areas stayed moderate.
Air quality monitoring on Saturday showed the central region of Singapore crossing the unhealthy threshold, with the 24-hour PSI climbing to 104 at 8 p.m. The National Environment Agency noted that surrounding districts continued to record moderate readings. This marks the second occurrence of unhealthy air in the central area within a week, the first being on the evening of Sep 20. NEA's advisory advises healthy people to cut back on prolonged outdoor exertion when the PSI stays unhealthy, while the elderly, pregnant women, children and those with chronic heart or lung conditions should limit or avoid outdoor activity. Although showers are expected over Singapore and nearby regions, dry conditions over southern Sumatra and parts of Kalimantan could sustain smoke haze, with prevailing winds expected from the southeast or southwest.
