Singapore's Q3 GDP climbs 5.4% year-on-year, led by electronics output
Singapore's economy expanded 5.4% in Q3 2026, surpassing forecasts and driven mainly by electronics manufacturing.
The Ministry of Energy, Trade and Industry reported that Singapore's gross domestic product increased 5.4% year-on-year in the third quarter of 2026, a modest decline from the 6.2% growth recorded in Q2 but still ahead of the 5.1% forecast by economists. On a seasonally adjusted quarterly basis, GDP rose 1.1%, extending the 1.5% gain from the prior quarter. Manufacturing output rose 7.5% YoY, a sharp deceleration from the 12.9% rise in Q2, with electronics, precision engineering, transport engineering and general manufacturing driving growth, while chemicals and biomedical sectors fell.
Construction output accelerated to an 8.8% YoY increase, and the services sector maintained a 5.2% rise, led by wholesale trade and transportation and storage. Overall, the expansion reflects strong performance in electronics and construction despite weaker manufacturing momentum.
Why it matters
The figures indicate Singapore's economy stays robust, with electronics and construction offsetting a slowdown in broader manufacturing.
