Singaporeans among top three foreign driver groups caught in Johor traffic sweep
Johor authorities seized over 450 vehicles and issued more than 3,000 notices during a statewide crackdown on foreign drivers and riders, with Singaporeans ranking third among the offenders.
Johor's road transport department conducted a joint enforcement drive, known as Ops PeWA, across the state between June 1 and Oct. 2, focusing on foreign drivers and riders. In total, 10,580 vehicles were inspected and 4,565 offences recorded, with the most frequent breach being operation without a valid licence. The crackdown led to the issuance of 3,072 notices and the seizure of 454 vehicles, including 347 motorcycles and 69 cars, most of which were owned by foreign nationals.
Pakistanis accounted for the highest number of offenders, followed by Bangladeshis, and Singaporeans ranked third with over 180 cases. Authorities said many of the seized vehicles were second-hand purchases lacking proper ownership transfer, complicating enforcement efforts.
