Sisters injured in fatal Kildare head-on crash thank supporters as recovery continues
Three sisters severely hurt in a head-on collision on the M9, which killed five teenagers, have posted an update expressing gratitude and noting gradual improvement.
On the early morning of August 16, a BMW driven the wrong way on the M9 in County Kildare collided head-on with a vehicle carrying sisters Ella Hendricken, Niamh Kinsella and Alma Kinsella, along with a seven-year-old boy. The impact killed five teenagers—Alex McCarthy, Jeremy O'Brien, Joey Carthy, Jack Kennedy and Kamil Pustkowski—at the scene, and their funerals were held in the days that followed. The three sisters, now in their 20s and 30s, posted an emotional update saying the weeks have been “incredibly difficult” but that they are recovering and feeling stronger each day.
They expressed deep gratitude for the outpouring of support, messages, prayers and financial contributions. A GoFundMe page created by a friend has collected more than €820,000, which will be directed to the family as they face a long rehabilitation journey.
