Six foreign suspects charged in absentia for gang robbery of Chinese businessman in Kuala Lumpur
Six foreigners linked to a gang robbery of a Chinese businessman at his Pavilion Embassy home were charged in absentia by the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court.
On September 7, a group of masked, knife-wielding men broke into the residence of a Chinese businessman at Pavilion Embassy on Jalan Ampang, taking cash, jewellery, watches and damaging personal items. The 28-year-old victim filed a report with city police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus at 5:31 pm. Authorities investigated the case under Sections 395 and 397 of the Penal Code for gang robbery.
Investigation documents were forwarded to the Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory Prosecution Office on September 17, after which the prosecution director ordered charges against six foreign suspects. The Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court sentenced them in absentia, and the deputy public prosecutor applied for arrest warrants, with a court mention set for October 16. Police intend to request Interpol red notices to locate the fugitives and have appealed for public tips.
