Six Matsda2sh journalists arrested, forcibly disappeared

Six Matsda2sh journalists have been arrested in a security campaign that began on Monday night with raids on the journalists’ homes, according to Matsda2sh and the Egyptian Initiative for Personal Rights, whose lawyers represent the reporters. The whereabouts of Matsda2sh staff Mohamed Ashraf Abu Emaira, Abdallah Qadry, Islam Barakat, Mohamed Adel, Mohamed Mohamed Mahmoud and Omar Helal remain unknown. No one has been allowed to contact their families or legal team, EIPR stated Tuesday morning.

“The reasons for their arrest remain unknown. It is also unclear which authority is investigating them, and there is still no confirmed information regarding where they are being held,” said Matsda2sh in a statement announcing the first arrests on Tuesday evening.
