Six teens arrested after high-speed e-bike chase through Adelaide city centre

Police were called to West Terrace shortly after 11:30 am following complaints about a gang of teenage e-bike riders damaging vehicles, obstructing traffic and riding dangerously. Officers followed the youths to Victoria Park, where they were observed running red lights and creating several near-miss incidents with pedestrians, leading to the dispatch of a PolAir helicopter. The operation resulted in the capture of one rider in an Addie Place car park just after 12:30 pm, two others in the western suburbs—including one who abandoned his bike near Adelaide Airport—and three more at a home in Malvern.

All six boys, aged 14 to 16, face charges ranging from failing to stop and driving unlicensed to endangering life and property damage, and have been bailed pending a hearing in the Adelaide Youth Court in October. Their e-bikes were impounded for 28 days and are alleged to have been illegally altered, making them motorcycles under South Australian legislation. Police continue to investigate to locate any additional participants.
