Sixteen-year-old teens rescued after food poisoning at Olympus shelter
Six 17-year-olds showing poisoning symptoms were evacuated from the Petrosturgas shelter on Olympus with help from firefighters, a military helicopter and an ambulance.
A medical emergency involving six 17-year-olds occurred at the Petrosturgas shelter on Olympus after they consumed contaminated food. The fire department's operations center received the alert and mobilized seven firefighters from the 2nd EMAC and the Litochoro fire service. A helicopter provided by GEETHA arrived to transport the patients to the 24th Battalion airfield in Litochoro.
Upon landing, an EKAB ambulance received the teenagers and transferred them to a medical facility. All six individuals were successfully evacuated and received treatment. The coordinated rescue effort was completed shortly after the evacuation.
