Ski house sells for far above asking price after over a year on market

A 1943 home in Ski sold for well above its listed price after more than a year of listings, driven by two eager buyers.

A house built in 1943 in the town of Ski was on the market for 431 days, initially priced lower and later reduced. In August, two interested parties submitted competing offers that lasted the entire day, finally agreeing to a price well above the original listing. The first broker, Hans Petter Søvik, relocated to Vesterålen before the deal closed, and the succeeding broker, Thor Gunnar Stavsholt of Krogsveen Ski, highlighted the importance of patience from both seller and buyers.

The property benefits from a desirable location near schools, the train station and the town centre, as well as a large plot. National housing data show that August saw a modest price rise and a shorter average selling time compared with July.

Why it matters

It shows how strong buyer demand can push prices beyond listings even after long market exposure.
