Slack introduces AI-driven Surfaces for building interactive reports inside chats

Slack's latest rollout, named Slackforce Surfaces, expands the AI assistant Slackbot to build interactive charts, polls, dashboards and even microsites on demand. By typing a natural-language request, users trigger Slackbot to gather information from permitted apps like Google Drive and Salesforce and produce a shareable visual tool within the chat window. The created Surface can be pinned to a channel, allowing teammates to view, interact with and comment on the data in real time.

Slack highlights use cases ranging from an arcade-styled AI token usage dashboard to a live customer-support queue monitor. The feature is available to all Slack customers, free and paid, with live-data integration slated for October. Ryan Gavin, Slack’s chief marketing officer, emphasized that teams can now act on insights without leaving the conversation.
