Slovak ruling party pushes bill to regulate opinion poll firms

Andrej Danko, who serves as parliamentary deputy speaker and heads the Slovak National Party, outlined a new bill intended to bring opinion-polling institutes under tighter control. Under the draft, firms must record their research methods and will be subject to checks by the Statistical Office. Danko emphasized that the goal is not to interfere with polling but to stop the practice of publishing several surveys in a single day to manipulate political sentiment.
He added that Prime Minister Robert Fico backs the initiative. The proposal will be placed on the agenda of the next coalition council session for further deliberation.
