Slovak suspect arrested in Poland under Interpol red notice for attempted hit in Ukraine

In late August, Ukrainian officials, using the International Police Cooperation Bureau, notified Polish law-enforcement that a 56-year-old Slovak was wanted for an attempted murder on Ukrainian soil. The man had previously been arrested in 2024 for fraud and involvement in a criminal group that produced about 1,700 counterfeit banknotes, a case handled by the Katowice Provincial Police. Joint efforts by officers from the Katowice command and the III Police Station in Częstochowa pinpointed his whereabouts, leading to his arrest in Częstochowa.

He allegedly opened fire on a designated individual in Ukraine, who survived the attack. The authorities are now carrying out procedures related to the Interpol red notice and preparing to transfer him to Ukrainian jurisdiction.
