Slovenian CEO and Romanian associate detained in energy storage contract bribery case

Romanian authorities arrested Slovenian executive Gregor Hudohmet, head of Gen-I Sonce, together with Romanian collaborator Cristian Theodor Dragomir of Waldevar Energy, accusing them of seeking a bribe in connection with a major battery storage contract in Gheorgheni. The project, valued at 55 MW and 220 MWh, was awarded only weeks earlier. Investigators say the illicit sum was to be transferred to a third-party company, Smart Green Design SRL, via a consultancy agreement overseen by Adrian Frătean.

After an initial 24-hour detention, a Bucharest tribunal judge approved a 30-day preventive arrest for both men. Representatives of the Romanian firms involved have said they will issue an official response once they have full details of the investigation. The Slovenian side had previously described the Gheorgheni installation as the largest and most important project developed by the GEN-I group.
