Smyths Toys pulls wooden cornhole set over possible asbestos contamination

Smyths Toys has withdrawn its Wooden Cornhole Board with Bean Bags from the market after Trading Standards identified a risk that the sand inside the six bean bags may contain asbestos. Asbestos, a prohibited substance, poses health hazards especially when fibers become airborne. The retailer is recalling the product and will refund purchasers even without proof of purchase.

Consumers are instructed to cease use, keep the intact board out of children's reach, and, if the bags are broken, clean the area with wet cloths while wearing gloves and a mask, then double-bag the material for safe disposal. If returning the item to a store is not possible, owners should follow the same precautions and seek guidance from local authorities. The UK Government emphasizes that no level of asbestos in consumer goods is safe, reinforcing the recall decision.
