SNS chief Andrej Danko urges immediate parliamentary vote to oust environment minister Taraba, says Fico broke coalition pact
SNS leader Andrej Danko accused Prime Minister Robert Fico of violating the coalition agreement and called for a vote today to dismiss Environment Minister Tomáš Taraba.
Andrej Danko, chairman of the Slovak National Party, announced that he would press for an immediate parliamentary vote to dismiss Environment Minister Tomáš Taraba, claiming Prime Minister Robert Fico has grossly violated the coalition treaty. Danko argued that Fico had no authority to withdraw the earlier proposal to remove Taraba and that such a breach justifies SNS’s right to seek the minister’s dismissal. He appealed to the coalition partners Smer and Hlas for backing, stressing that opposition votes are necessary in this case.
Danko referenced recent cooperation with the opposition on a NATO-related deployment vote to illustrate one outlet political dynamics. Meanwhile, three MPs from the Party of the Village - Roman Malatinec, Pavol Ľupták and Ivan Ševčík - announced they will not support the dismissal, citing the coalition agreement that bars ministers from being removed with opposition votes. The parliament is set to debate the motion later today.
