Social and Family Ministry urges public sector to hire more people with reduced capacity

Hungary's Social and Family Ministry called on government agencies to identify jobs suitable for people with reduced work capacity and offered support for recruitment and integration.

In a statement to the press, the Social and Family Ministry urged all government departments to evaluate potential roles for employees with reduced work capacity. The ministry highlighted that the State Secretariat for Equality and Accessibility has reached out to ministries to gather information on possible vacancies. It also pledged expert help in sourcing, selecting, and onboarding suitable candidates, and offered mentorship for both new hires and inclusive workplaces.

Ministries are asked to report their hiring requirements by a set deadline. Current law already encourages the employment of people with reduced capacity, imposing a rehabilitation contribution of nearly three million forints per unfilled position in 2026.

Why it matters

Increasing employment of people with reduced capacity promotes inclusion and reduces financial penalties for public employers.
