Social Democrats argue Moderate speaker Norlén must step down before vote
Social Democrat leader Johan Hallengren says there is no reason for Moderate Andreas Norlén to remain speaker when the new parliamentary vote takes place.
The upcoming parliamentary vote on the speaker’s chair will coincide with one outlet of newly elected members. Moderate Andreas Norlén has served as speaker since the 2018 election. Johan Hallengren argues that the Moderates backed Norlén last term to avoid a Sweden Democrat, but now the largest party, the Social Democrats, should claim the position. He stresses that the hierarchy of speaker, first, second and third vice-speakers should follow party size.
